       Chapter 5 Blog:

    Over the past few decades, we have had so many technological tools come out to help us connect and learn with each other. Within these websites, you may do some tagging, also called social bookmarking. Social bookmarking is what allows people to save, organize, and share content online, which can include videos, photos, articles, etc. Social bookmarking is helpful when it comes to staying organized online since we use so many different sources each day on the internet. Some websites that provide help with social bookmarking are Diigo and Delicious. 

    During our time online or on social media, we are most likely connecting and collaborating with others. These are the main components of social learning networks. Blogs are one of the main and first ways people have been connecting with each other. Blogs can be found on almost anything you can think of that you would like to connect with other people based on certain topics. When you find someone's page and see what they are talking about, you can start a conversation with a comment on the post. You could give your own thoughts, ideas, and emotions. Some common blog websites include Blogger, Tumblr, and Kidblog. 

    Podcasts are another great form of technology that is becoming more popular today, helping people connect on topics. Podcasts are especially beneficial for those who prefer being informed through listening, rather than visually by reading. You can access podcasts anytime and anywhere. Creating podcasts is also simple. All you need to begin with is a microphone (camera is optional) and a place to upload your recording. If it includes a video, you can simply upload your podcast to YouTube. 

     Next, everyone's favorite source of information and communication is social media. People like this the most not only because it is the most popular and preferred way to network digitally today, but because there are so many options within social media. You can follow whoever you want, post what you want, and say your opinions. However, with all the freedoms involved in social media, you have to be careful with your every move. Everything is saved and could come back to you in the future. But, it is a great way to connect with professionals and reach out to people who could benefit your future. 

    As a communications major, in the future, I think I will have experience with everything mentioned in chapter five as tools. Not just with networking and connecting with other people, but for the work in the major itself. Media production involves all of these in some way. There are a lot of connecting each other with different forms of media, including audio and videos. Social bookmarking is essential due to staying organized with different projects and being able to go back to different resources later on, since I may be using a bunch of different sources online for research.
